Having Fun with Different Hair Curling Methods!

A couple of nights ago I had fun experimenting with the curling iron on my two youngest sisters! LOL! The pictures we took turned out pretty nicely so I wanted to share the results! :)

Sis #3
I decided to just stick with a few simple curls, instead of a whole head of curls like we usually end up doing!

Sis #2
I soon realized that was a pretty smart decision because they sure have quite a lot of long beautiful hair, and it would have taken much longer to curl all of it!

This is Sis #1
She had curled her hair herself using these things we have called "Twisters". We've enjoyed using those in the past too!

And this is me.
I actually didn't do anything to my hair that night. My curls just happened to look fairly decent on their own, instead of their typical (what I call) "poofy"! lol! But if you really want to know, I'll tell you exactly what I did. If I can recall correctly, I went swimming the evening before and afterward put my hair up into a (very messy) bun. Then I slept on it (which I usually don't do because the ponytail breaks my hair during the night). When I woke up I was lazy and decided to leave it alone for the day and when I got home from work that night I took it down and this is what I got! . . . I'll have to try that more often, lol! :)

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed seeing what we've been up to. Have a blessed weekend!

Quick News

This last week has been very busy! Our family went on a short vacation last Thursday through Saturday and during that trip I got to meet my penpal! We've been writing each other for almost four years now (we have over 100 letters!) It was wonderful to finally meet her and her family. We all really enjoyed visiting with them and we're hoping to see each other again sometime soon!! We had a really great trip!
Anyway, since we got back home we've had non-stop "busyness"! So since I haven't really had a chance to post anything new, I thought I'd give this quick little update. I know it's not really much! Oh well. Have a blessed week everyone!

Like the Appearance of a Rainbow in the Clouds. . .

Ezekiel 1:26-28
26 Above the expanse over their heads was what looked like a throne of sapphire, and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man. 27 I saw that from what appeared to be his waist up he looked like glowing metal, as if full of fire, and that from there down he looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded him. 28 Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. When I saw it, I fell facedown, and I heard the voice of one speaking.
I just saw this picture in a folder on our computer and thought, "I have to post that on my blog!" It was taken by some friends of ours at their lake house. How awesome is the glory of the Lord?! PRAISE HIM ALL THE EARTH! :)

Float Hunting...

Yesterday afternoon we had quite a storm! I guess being out in the middle of nothing with no trees around the house we tend to experience a LOT of wind every time. This time was no different.

We soon realized all of our pool floats had been thrown in every direction, so Dad told the other three girls, "It's time to get on your float hunting gear!"

The official "Float Hunters".
Ready for a challenge!

And they're off!

This is just one of the many rescued floats. Good job girls!

You can see it was pretty wet and rainy outside!

Job 5:10He bestows rain on the earth; he sends water upon the countryside.

Waiting on the Lord

It's been almost two weeks since I last posted! Wow, time sure does fly! Since I haven't posted in so long I thought I'd just give a quick mini-update from the past couple of weeks. I haven't really blogged much about my Dad and his recent medical mystery (lol!). So I thought I'd give a brief update on the situation as it is now...

As most of you should know, my Dad went in for an MRI on July 9th, and the tumor (or whatever it really is) showed no change in size or anything. We found that to be quite frustrating, as we really hoped to finally get some answers. Still, we are also VERY thankful that there was no new growth! We do trust completely in God's timing and realize He has a purpose in all of this waiting. . . we just haven't completely figured out what that purpose is yet! :) His next scheduled MRI is four months away. He has still had no spasms since June 19th! That is one of the greatest reliefs. Now he's been getting tired very easily and yes, he still has his double vision among a few other "minor" things. All in all, though, things are going okay right now.

We've found that one of the greatest challenges in all of this is the waiting... who'd of thought it! ;) If it were up to us, we'd know exactly what was in Dad's brain and already be treating it, but apparently God has other plans! While we're not entirely sure as to what those plans are or what all they entail, we are grateful and praising God that he has it all under control. One of the greatest comforts is having the knowledge that He knows exactly every detail of our situation and He knows what is best for our family. And I believe He is doing and will do that very thing! Yes, the waiting can become exhausting and quite frustrating to say the least, but it's verses like this one that sustain us with the strength and hope to continue on: "And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised." (Hebrews 6:15) That's a simple verse, but there sure is a lot we can learn from it!

I know we all go through times in our life when we are forced to "wait". While each circumstance may be different, there is one truth that remains the same through them all: God has called us to "Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD." Another thing: When the waiting is over and we've done our part we can be sure God will fulfill His promises to us, just like with His servant Abraham. Psalm 105:42"For he remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham." Psalm 145:13"Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The LORD is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made." It's important that we wait patiently on the Lord. Now, I know that's a lot easier said than done, but it's still very true. The Lord has a purpose in all things and we are called to trust in Him alone.

I just want to encourage others and say that we serve a faithful God! I know that He is doing a mighty work in our family right now and I'm looking forward to the time we can see that work complete! But it's not completed yet and we must be faithful to do our part, just as He is faithful in doing His. So, whatever you may be going through right now, whatever you may be waiting on, I encourage you to do it. . . patiently. You will reap the benefits!

Psalm 37:7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him...

Psalm 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.

Romans 8:25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

2 Corinthians 1:20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God.

Psalm 119:116 Sustain me according to your promise, and I will live......"

Galatians 3:29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Let Us Celebrate Freedom!

Ephesians 3:12In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

Galatians 5:13You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature ; rather, serve one another in love.

Galatians 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.

2 Corinthians 3:17Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Romans 8:20, 21
20For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21that[a] the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.

As we celebrate today, let us also not forget to celebrate the true freedom we share in Christ! :)
Have a supernaturally blessed Independance Day 2009!

A Quick Little Notice! : )

Hi everyone!

I just realized that I forgot to post my Young Maiden's Daybook for last Monday! I was already considering changing it to once a month because it's too hard for me to get it accomplished every week. So. . . I guess this is my "official" notice saying that from now on I will plan to do them the first Monday of each month. Will that work?!?! :) Hope no one minds the change! I'd like to try posting things more often again, but I can't make any promises! Our family has just been extremely busy the past few months!

So anyway, I hope you all have a blessed evening and Fourth of July weekend! God bless!
