A Young Maiden's Daybook--Entry #1

Today…

March 9, 2009

Outside my window…

It's very dark right now.

I am thinking…

About my next post!

I am thankful for…

All the blessings God has given me.

I am wearing…

A new blue skirt I just bought today with very small pretty white roses on it, and a gray t-shirt.

I am reading…

The Bible, After the Dancing Days, UnCommon, and White Christmas Pie.

I am creating…

Material to place inside the long slits in many of our skirts. Well, I'm not really creating the material, just putting it all together! (We're sewing snaps along the edges of the inside of the slits, and then putting them on the material pieces as well. That way, they are interchangeable! -All Mom's idea!)

One of my favorite things…

Buying lots of nice skirts/dresses for very low prices! It's so much fun.

For education this week…

Newton's laws in physical science,"The reconstruction of America" in my in-depth U.S. history, SAT practice, and poetry by Edgar Allen Poe

A keeper at home skill I am using/learning…

Cooking, baking, sewing snaps!

A spiritual lesson I’m learning…

To be still and know God. (That's just one of the many!)
A godly character trait I plan to work on…

Not making any negative comments to my younger sisters. :( . . .Pray for me!

Scripture I am memorizing…

Psalm 46

I am praying for…

The Lord to instill within me a spirit of wisdom and discernment, and to let my conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that I would know how to answer everyone. (Colossians 4:6)

The rest of the week…

Deep cleaning the house for a visit from old friends this weekend, school, and church stuff.

A picture I’d like to share…

I just think this is a beautiful and innocent picture of one of my younger sisters. It reminds me of the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit! It was taken a few years ago in our old frontyard.
"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful." 1 Peter 3:3-5
